  1. Funding alternatives to abortion.
    Wergin amendment to restore funding for positive abortion alternatives.  Provides funding for initiatives encouraging women not to have abortions. Senate Journal 1529. 3/29/07  Defeated 31 to 34.  There are efforts to cut funding for programs seeking to provide alternatives to abortion.

    Robling amendment to restore funding for alternatives to abortion.  Provided a lower level of base funding than the Wergin amendment. SJ 1530.  3/29/07  Defeated 32 to 33.  There are efforts to cut funding for programs seeking to provide alternatives to abortion.

  3. Stopping taxpayer funding of abortion
    Neuville amendment to prohibit the use of taxpayer dollars to perform abortions in Minnesota.  SJ 1531  3/29/07  Defeated 26 to 38.  Nearly 30% of all abortions performed in Minnesota are paid for with taxpayer dollars.

  4. Restoring parental oversight of children’s medial treatment.
    Neuville amendment restoring the right of parents to be involved in their minor children’s medical treatment for STDs, drug and alcohol abuse, and pregnancy treatment.  SJ 1532  3/29/07  Defeated 23 to 42.  Current law prohibits parents from being notified of their child’s medical treatment in these areas unless the child gives consent.

  5. Stopping state funding to affiliates of abortion promoting organizations.
    Fischbach amendment denying state family planning monies to organizations or affiliates of abortion performing organizations.  SJ 1534  3/29/07  Defeated 23 to 40.  State monies going to affiliates of abortion performing organizations supports them in their education efforts to promote abortion.

  6. Married couples given priority in placement of children.
    Hann amendment giving married couples a priority in the placement of children for adoption or foster care over unmarried persons.  SJ 1538  3/29/07  Defeated 26 to 39 Children do best when placed in a home with a married mother and father all other things being equal.

  7. Authorizing schools, towns, cities and counties to provide homosexual domestic partner benefits.
    Pappas amendment would authorize local units of government to provide domestic partner benefits to homosexual partners of government employees.  SJ 1322, 3/24/07  Defeated 42 to 20.  Authorizes the establishing marital type statuses for homosexual couples and granting marital health benefits to homosexual couples.

  8. Oppose granting homosexual partners of state employees marital health benefits.
    Limmer amendment would have deleted a provision granting homosexual state employees domestic partner benefits.  SF 1321, 3/24/07  Defeated 22 to 40.  Grants homosexual state employees marital health benefits and establishes a marital type status for homosexual employees.
