Reject the proposed
statewide condom/ comprehensive sex education mandate on every
Minnesota middle and high school.
Reason 1#: Parents don’t support
comprehensive sex education.
FACT:
This
legislation requires every Minnesota public middle and high school
to promote condoms and contraceptives, grades 7 through
12.
FACT: Zogby
poll found that parents prefer abstinence education by 2 to 1 over
comprehensive sex education once they understand what the programs
actually teach.1
FACT: Comprehensive
sex education curricula spend less than 5% of the time teaching on
abstinence.2
A HHS survey found that the most “balanced” comprehensive sex
education curricula they reviewed discussed contraceptives
nearly 7 times more than abstinence.3
FACT: Some
comprehensive sex education curricula advise students on different
flavors and colors of condoms; promote sexual activities like
"outercourse", which may include showering together and mutual
masturbation as an alternative to sexual intercourse; and spend
little to no time discussing the benefits of saving sex until
marriage.4
FACT: Zogby
poll found that parental support for comprehensive sex education
support plunged by 40% once parents found out the actual content of
comprehensive sex education
curricula.5
