Dear Friends,

Usually, anything goes at the Twin Cities Gay Pride Festival. However, this year, in the midst of the activity, three things were especially troubling: churches, corporations and children.

Church Support.

Several churches marched in the gay pride parade with the distorted message that accepting and loving all people – as Jesus did – means affirming sin in the name of “openness.”  It was difficult to watch churches such as All God’s Children, United Church of Christ, St. Paul Reformation Lutheran, and St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church celebrate and promote homosexuality as God’s design for families.

Corporate Support.

It was equally disappointing to witness the corporate support of the festival.  Target gave each passerby a rainbow Target tattoo. 3M, Ikea, Saturn, General Mills, Chipotle, and Wells Fargo, were also among the strong corporate supporters of this event.   Apparently they were trying to develop a new market niche – unconstrained by values or conscience.
