Minnesota Family Council calls on Minnesotans to stop
senate bill limiting free speech.
Senate legislation could
prevent everyday Americans from being informed and heard by their lawmakers.
The U.S. Senate will vote next week on legislation aimed at curbing lobbying
corruption. Hidden in Section 220 of the bill is language designed to
severely hamper organizations like the Minnesota Family Council from informing
Minnesotans about significant legislation affecting the family and urging them
to take action.
Apparently the objective is to hide what goes on from the public and punish and
silence those who would inform average citizens. For instance, this email
would be considered grass roots communication and subject to the new
laws. Organizations in violation of the new law could be fined $100,000
per violation.
Take
Action
Call the offices of Senator
Norm Coleman and Senator
Amy Klobuchar in Washington D.C., and tell them to support the Bennett
Amendment that will strip Section 220 from Senate Bill 1.
Tell them to focus on lobbying corruption - not grassroots communication.
Tell them you are for reining in the high-powered lobbyists and corruption in
Washington, but not grassroots communications between citizens and lawmakers.
