A Message From The President
Greetings!
Today, there is a growing uneasiness among Minnesotans about the direction our state and nation are headed. There is growing anxiety about our poor educational performance, family breakdown, crime in our communities, rising health care costs, millions of abortions and increasing poverty.
On top of all this is the growing loss of confidence in our elected government officials and their ability to address our nation's problems. Many people are experiencing a growing sense of helplessness and pessimism about the world in which their children will grow up.
We at the Minnesota Family Council believe there are answers to our state and national problems. In order to restore health and prosperity to families, our communities, state and nation, we must reexamine the principles upon which our nation was built.
Our founding fathers clearly believed our liberties and republican form of government were rooted in the inalienable rights derived from "the laws of nature and nature's God." For them, our system of government, our freedoms, our culture, and our very way of life were rooted in Judeo-Christian principles. We must restore these principles in our society.
In addition, the family, the first level of government, is critically important to the well being of society. The family is the most foundational depositor and transmitter of Judeo-Christian values. As James Wilson, signer of both the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution, said, "The family is the principal of the community...As its establishment is the source, so its happiness is the end, of every institution of government which is wise and good."
As the following case statements point out, we seek to promote these principles in the media, courts, legislature and communities across the state of Minnesota. We seek to be not only a champion of the family and traditional values but also educate and equip Minnesotans to be effective citizens.
I believe that we can turn around our state, and we must. Our children's and their childrens future depend upon it. I invite you to join with us in this exciting and important venture of recapturing a bright and positive future for our children and our state.
Tom Prichard
President
