As people of faith fighting to defend traditional marriage, we have the most powerful weapon in heaven or earth. It is prayer. Jesus said (Matthew 18:19) that if “two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.”
We know that traditional marriage — the union of one man and one woman — is God’s will. Over the next months let’s commit to beseeching Almighty God for the following: • Pray that pro-family leaders will continue to effectively make the case for preserving traditional marriage, with genuine compassion and without being judgmental. • Pray for Governor Pawlenty and our allies in the legislature to remain resolute in their support for the Minnesota Marriage Amendment with no changes that would weaken the language. • Pray that legislators who have voted to block the amendment will listen to their constituents, who overwhelmingly want the opportunity to vote on this issue. In addition to prayer, take action! Continue to make your voice heard with your legislators, thanking those who have supported the amendment thus far and urging those who have opposed it to “let the people vote!” Respectfully remind them that you will hold them accountable for their actions on this issue. |
