MINNEAPOLIS – Tom Prichard, President of the Minnesota Family Council today criticized the omnibus House Crime Prevention bill which dramatically expands hate crimes laws in Minnesota.
ā€œI’m astonished that House Republicans on the Public Safety Committee would so dramatically change our criminal justice system on so little evidence for what appears to be political purposes,ā€ said Tom Prichard.
The bill HF 2953 Omnibus Public Safety bill, establishes a hate crime for every crime in Chapter 609 and ups the penalties for hate crime, e.g. misdemeanors become gross misdemeanors
