From our families to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving is a hard time of year for many people, and as we look around our world today it is tempting to wonder where God is.
Planned Parenthood and other abortionists are not only barbarically murdering innocent children--they are harvesting their body parts and selling them off to be used for "research" at many of our taxpayer funded institutions, including the University of Minnesota.
Children are increasingly confused about what it means to be a "boy" or a "girl," and instead of helping them understand basic physical realities, activists and government bureaucrats are exploiting them for a social agenda that includes violating their innocence and privacy by forcing them to share restrooms with one another.
America's first freedom, religious freedom, is continuously under attack. Racial tensions are running high. College campuses reflect the deep divides and tensions of the greater culture. Terrorists threaten lives in America and around the world, and marriages and families are struggling.
So, how do we give thanks?
We invite your family to join us in laying down memorial stones to the Lord this Thanksgiving.
God's Word tells us in the Book of Joshua, Chapter 4, how God's people had been wandering in the wilderness for 40 years, losing an entire generation on the way because they did not trust God's promises.
But, the moment came for them to enter the Promised Land. When they did, they encountered the impassible Jordan River. And, once again, God proved Himself faithful. He parted the waters of the Jordan, just as He had done with the Red Sea decades before.
Then, the Lord told them to take 12 stones from the Jordan River bed and erect a memorial so that when their children would ask "what are these stones for?" God's people could tell the children about all He had done and so that "all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the Lord is mighty, so that you may fear the Lord your God forever.” (Joshua 4:24)
So will your family join us this Thanksgiving? Will you lay down stones as a memorial to God's goodness and faithfulness to His people so that your children, and our culture, would see that the Lord is faithful and mighty, and worthy of our thanksgiving, fear, and adoration? Perhaps the Lord will see fit that every nation and tribe will praise His name through the testimony of your stones?
We have a few stones laid to start with; we invite your family to finish with yours.
We thank God that His Word is true, and that He is faithful. Nothing happens outside His notice, and He tells us to "be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." (Philippians 4:6)
We thank God that He created the institution of the family!
We thank God that He created us, male and female, and called us good. We do not have to be confused--but rather, honor Him with our bodies as temples of His Holy Spirit.
We thank God He has seen fit for us to live in a country where we have the high privilege and responsibility to choose leaders for ourselves--where we have the ability to elect righteous leaders who will advance laws that honor God.
We thank God for His mercy and grace to us, revealed in the Person of Jesus Christ and the debt He paid on our behalf.
We praise Him for giving His Son as the greatest gift of Love!
We thank God that His Word helps us know Truth, that we do not have to be confused about morality. His Word makes clear that there is good and evil, right and wrong. And, He promises on top of all that to give us wisdom when we ask!
So, what stones will you lay as a testament of God's glory and faithfulness to your children and community this Thanksgiving?
May God bless you, and we do wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving!
